Shan Shan

An artist emerging from the misunderstood streets of Sacramento, California is the female lyricist rated next. Her name is Shan Shan and she’s ready to make a bold statement while climbing her way up to the top in this music industry. The music genre she hails from is hip hop and has been rapping and performing for sixteen years. Her career started off at the young, tender age of twelve where she was asked to assist in a skit for what is known as Vacation Bible School. Her friends caught a whiff of the fire and suggested that she step in the front and lead them. After that display of raw talent, her mother called up a friend which resulted in her first studio session. Some of her most prestigious acts were revealed for venues such as bay area church conventions, outdoor celebrations such as Juneteenth and gospel concerts held at the Crest Theatre and UC Davis.

It wasn’t until nine years ago that Shan Shan realized she needed to step her music career up a notch. She wasn’t getting the exposure she wished for so she chose to go down the rocky road of secular music to gain a broader audience. In the year of 1998, she linked up with the Carter brothers who are known for earlier hits such as “Gangsta Lean” from DRS and recent hits “Ghetto Romeo” and “Kiss You” from the R&B artist GR. They helped to improve her skills by “studio grooming” her, teaching her the basics of recording a hot track that includes learning how to do doubles, adlibs and bring out her character as a whole. Since then she has been compared to the likes of her mentor MC Lyte having an eruptive and demanding delivery complemented by ferocious flows with a commanding presence while on stage. She’s a portrait of raw energy and anyone who gets a glimpe of her live and in color on stage will be highly impressed and in shock. She’s an authentic and genuine artist equipped with the full package labeled entertainer.
When the year 2000 arrived, Shan Shan realized she needed to make more moves and quick patterns if she wanted her name and presence to be known as a force to be reckoned with in the hip hop music industry. The independent record label “Shindig Entertainment,” who she is founder and CEO of, came about shortly thereafter and she exploded onto the music scene with a ground shaking bang. Along with her cousin and Co-CEO King Coopa, she creates a sound that is uncategorized due to the fact that it’s unique and distinguished. She’s opened up for a plethora of local Sacramento artist such as P. Chill, Hurchu and Feva in the Funkhouse just to name a few. She has also grasped the ears of local artist G-Macc and G-Menace who have featured her on their up and coming albums. When opening for headliners, Shan Shan noticed how her opening acts were outshining the main artist so she had to become one herself. With the summer 2007 release of her debut album “Blow Ur Mind” from the Shindig Entertainment label, you will see a new headliner who will never lose her spot. Once you hear Shan Shan, she will capture your mind, soul and spirit while leaving you screaming her name and begging for more.
